The JCB Academy, established in 2010, is sponsored by JCB alongside leading organisations including Bentley Motors, Network Rail and Rolls-Royce. It was the first technical school of its kind in the UK, offering engineering and business education from Year 9 through to sixth form. The Academy also operates a dedicated apprenticeship training centre, delivering high-quality programmes for a range of employers.

Company: Allied Bakeries
Location: AB Stoke, Newcastle-under-Lyme (ST5 9HT) with learning based at The JCB Academy, Rocester (ST14 5JX)

What will the apprenticeship involve?

As a successful candidate, you will begin your apprenticeship in September 2026.

This is a four-year programme designed to develop your engineering skills and knowledge through a combination of hands-on experience and structured learning. You’ll gain valuable, real-world experience while working towards a recognised qualification – helping you build a strong foundation for a long-term career in engineering.

We’re looking for individuals who are motivated, curious, and committed to developing their skills, with a genuine interest in both the practical and theoretical aspects of engineering.

Requirements

To be successful in this opportunity, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent) qualifications in Maths and English. Where this cannot be evidenced, there is the opportunity to complete a functional skills assessment
  • A proactive and positive approach to work
  • The ability to work reliably and safely
  • Confidence to work both as part of a team and independently
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • A willingness to learn and respond positively to feedback
  • Integrity, with a sense of responsibility and pride in your work
  • A commitment to the values of Allied Bakeries and The JCB Academy
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office)

Due to the nature of the JCB Academy environment, a DBS check will be required. You will also need to commute to both AB Stoke  and The JCB Academy (Mill Street, Rocester, ST14 5JX).

How to apply

If you’re ready to take the next step towards a career in engineering, we’d love to hear from you.

Please submit your CV and a covering letter outlining why you would like to undertake this apprenticeship and how you meet the criteria by 13th July 2026.

Interviews will be conducted by Allied Bakeries, followed by further discussions with The JCB Academy to determine suitability.
