Key Accountabilities
As a VMU Technician, you'll be responsible for keeping our fleet operating at peak performance by:
- Carrying out inspections, servicing and repairs on LGVs, trailers and associated equipment
- Diagnosing faults efficiently and completing repairs to the highest standards
- Ensuring all maintenance work complies with VOSA and legal requirements
- Working closely with VMU Shift Leaders and Logistics teams to maximise vehicle availability
- Delivering quality work safely and efficiently to support operational targets and KPIs
- Following all health, safety and environmental procedures
- Coordinating with approved subcontractors where required to ensure effective maintenance solutions
- Contributing ideas and initiatives that support continuous improvement
- Providing wider support across VMU activities as business needs require
The Right Person
Essential
- City & Guilds qualification in LGV Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
- LGV Category C+E Licence
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- A proactive, customer-focused approach
- Commitment to safety, compliance and high-quality workmanship
Desirable
- Previous experience within a fleet maintenance or transport environment
- Good planning and organisational skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced logistics operation
