Job Title: Maintenance Manager

Overview of role
Location: West Bromwich, West Midlands
An exciting opportunity for a proactive and experienced Maintenance Manager to lead our maintenance operations in a fast-paced bakery manufacturing operation. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all plant equipment and infrastructure, supporting continuous production and high-quality output.
Key Accountabilities
Safety Culture: Drive a safety culture by improving and maintaining a safe working environment, ensuring all team members are aware and complying with health and safety standards, legal and company requirements.
Team Leadership: Inspire and empower the Shift Engineering team through effective leadership, coaching, and development to ensure high levels of performance and compliance, in turn delivering on required KPI’s.
Strategic Management: Collaborate with operations management team to define and execute food safety standards. Monitor performance metrics and implement improvement plans where necessary.
Operations Management: Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimis downtime, coordinating with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to resolve issues and improve processes. To monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.
Project and Contractor Management: Successfully deliver Engineering projects and coordinate safety activity of all contractors on site
Continuous Improvement: Utilise thorough RCA techniques to ensure appropriate learnings are taken from events and strive to implement Engineering best practice where possible.
The Right Person
Health & Safety Management – Strong practical knowledge of UK H&S legislation (e.g. LOLER, PSSR, DSEAR). This includes conducting comprehensive risk assessments (examples)
Food Safety & Quality – Good knowledge of food safety management standards, ability to manage audits, both internal and external and stock control.
Successful Leadership experience in a commercially challenging, results driven and fast paced food manufacturing environment with good communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems and familiarity with CMMS systems.
Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., Engineering Degree or HND in a relevant engineering discipline).
Experience at leading Project Management and Continuous Improvement process
