Job: Warehouse Team Leader
Location: Trafford Park, Manchester
Hours: 42p/week (nights shift pattern)
We have a great opportunity for a Warehouse Team Leader to join an experienced team, providing a first-class service at our flour mill. The successful candidate will lead and coordinate a team of skilled warehouse operatives to manufacture, store, and despatch bagged products safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. They will ensure customer demand is met, daily production and volume targets are achieved, and downtime is minimised through effective first‑fix intervention. You will also act as the first point of contact on shift for all operational and HR issues escalating when necessary to the SCC.
Key Accountabilities
Maintain a safe working environment in area of operation by actively promoting “Safety First” and “Clean as You Go” cultures.
Lead and motivate a team of warehouse and production operatives, ensuring workloads are planned and allocated effectively.
Drive performance to meet daily production, storage, and despatch targets.
Coordinate the flow of materials, finished goods, and outbound loads to meet customer requirements.
Ensure accurate stock handling, including booking in, stock rotation, pallet integrity checks, and inventory control.
Complete weekly stock counts, ensuring they are accurate, recorded in line with company procedures and submitted to the Supply Chain Controller before Monday 06:00 weekly.
Act as the primary on‑shift contact for operational decision‑making when the SCC is unavailable.
Cover Supply Chain Controller duties when required.
To complete all warehouse and production duties in accordance with operational & safety procedures.
Carry out first‑fix diagnostics and basic mechanical interventions to minimise downtime.
Escalate issues promptly to Engineering for second‑level support when required.
Monitor equipment performance and report recurring faults or risks to the SCC.
To operate to procedures as defined within site quality, environmental and health and safety systems and standards. Always Demonstrating the ‘Safety First’ approach.
Actively engage with the warehouse team through toolbox talks and safety briefs to encourage safe working practices.
Complete routine inspections and audits ensuring compliance with our safety and QFFS standards.
Report and investigate any incidents, near misses and non conformances using the correct systems.
Promote high levels of housekeeping in line with our QFFS standards.
Support the SCC by acting as the initial point of contact for Return-to-Work (RTW) interviews and absence queries.
Assist with training, onboarding, and competency upkeep for all operatives.
Provide regular feedback to team members and contribute to appraisals and performance discussions.
Support resource planning, overtime management, and holiday coordination.
The Right Person
Good level of Math’s and English
Computer Literate
Mechanical Isolation training.
Fork Lift Truck qualified is desirable (if not already qualified must be achieved within first 6 months).
Food Safety Level 2, and IOSH managing Safely (to be completed in role).
Working knowledge of packing equipment in a “First Fix” capacity or willingness to work towards.
Good communication skills and a team player.
Self-motivated, with a desire to learn and develop.
A keen attention to detail, with the drive to meet and maintain standards.
Works well under their own initiative.
A flexible approach to work with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks.
Able to work well under pressure and remain calm
