The Role

 

We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environment Manager to join us on a 12-month interim basis. This is a key leadership role where you will champion behavioural change and cultural development across the site, ensuring we maintain an industry-leading position for the safety and wellbeing of our people and our environment.

 

You will be responsible for implementing our Safe Food & Safe People Strategy and ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental legislation. You will lead the development and delivery of improvement plans, manage risk registers, and oversee investigations to ensure root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented effectively.

 

In addition, you will play a vital role in supporting capital and operational projects, ensuring governance and compliance throughout. You will design and deliver training and coaching programmes to embed best practices and behavioural safety, while working closely with the wider HSE team to simplify and standardise systems across Silver Spoon.

 

This is a hands-on leadership position where you will influence, coach, and inspire teams to achieve excellence in health, safety, and environmental standards.  This role supports our 2 manufacturing sites, one in Bardeny, Lincolnshire the other in Bishops Stortford and our Head office in Peterborough. With regular attendance at all expected at all 3 sites.

 

The Candidate

 

You will be a member of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH),and ideally hold a NEBOSH qualification. You will have a strong understanding of behavioural-based safety theory and know how to translate this into practical application.

 

You will bring extensive experience in HSE leadership within FMCG or food-sector operations, including production, warehousing, transport, and logistics. A proven track record of delivering safety behavioural change programmes and working with third-party suppliers on large-scale investments is essential.
