The Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to join our team at our Bishop’s Stortford site. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving site strategy and performance through the delivery of the Engineering Plan. You will ensure that all site assets are fully operational, reliable, and compliant with relevant legislation and corporate standards, enabling the continuous and sustainable supply of product across safety, productivity, cost, quality, service, and reputation.
As Engineering Manager, you will lead and develop a high-performing Engineering Team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. You will be accountable for statutory and regulatory compliance, engineering structure alignment, lean implementation, stakeholder collaboration, and achievement of operational and financial targets.
You will also oversee the Site Asset Care Plan, manage third-party suppliers, and ensure effective use of AGILITY for maintenance scheduling. Your leadership will be key in driving standardisation, project delivery, and governance across site assets, while promoting a strong safety culture and supporting corporate goals.
The Candidate:
We are looking for a candidate who is educated to degree level in an engineering discipline or has completed a time-served apprenticeship. You should have experience working in FMCG or food manufacturing environments, with a strong understanding of quality and service priorities.
Ideally, you will have knowledge of electrical systems along with experience in process and packaging equipment. Previous leadership of engineering teams and contractor management is essential as is familiarity with continuous improvement tools and planned maintenance techniques.
Project management experience and a proactive approach to driving change and delivering results are essential. You should be confident in influencing others, sharing best practices, and supporting safe food and safe people initiatives across the site.
