Job Description: 

Overview of role

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance, you will have responsibility for business partnering our commercial teams, providing insight, challenge and influence to help deliver profitable growth across all sales channels. Impact and influence are key skillsets integral to this role in order to help deliver better outcomes for the business. In addition to this, analysing and reporting commercial performance on a periodic basis, and partnering with commercial teams to evaluate investment and new business opportunities. 

Commercially astute with a good business understanding, you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues from all areas of the business and so being able to develop and maintain productive cross functional relationships at all levels of the organisation is also extremely important.  

Key Accountabilities

Business Partnering:

  • Build strong relationships with commercial teams to understand business drivers and support strategic initiatives, while highlighting areas of change or areas of approvement.
  • Provide Commercial Finance support for new pricing decisions, promotional activity and customer negotiations including P&L reviews and volume projections, with a focus on understanding return on investment.
  • Attend regular commercial meetings, offering financial guidance and challenge to ensure targets are robust and met.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Review daily, weekly, and monthly sales and margin reports highlighting key trends and variances, along with areas of challenge.
  • Perform detailed variance analysis on actual versus prior year and planned performance, identifying areas of risks and potential opportunities.

Forecasting & Planning:

  • Support the Commercial Finance team with the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-range plans for the UK business.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to ensure alignment of financial plans with business strategy.

 

Operational Finance Support:

  • Drive improvements in reporting processes, data quality and financial systems.
  • Champion the use of Power BI and other analytics tools to enhance business insight and efficiency.
  • Support the Commercial Finance team with ad-hoc analysis, scenario modelling and CPI implementations.

Governance & Controls:

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies.
  • Assist with all Internal and external audit requirements.

 

The Right Person

Professionally qualified (CIMA, ACCA preferred) with proven Part Qualified experience, you’ll have a track record of success in Commercial Finance business partnering. Supported by excellent influencing, communication and I.T. skills, you will be able to evidence a logical and astute approach to solving business problems, along with the drive and resilience to implement change where necessary.
