Job Description: 

Overview of role

As a key member of our trading team, you will play an important role in bringing our growth strategy to life, with a clear focus on winning new business and expanding our presence within our markets. You will support the sales teams to unlock growth through improved distribution, increased market share, and targeted customer opportunities. Managing the CIS brand portfolio, you will ensure brand positioning remains relevant and consistent across ranges, while working closely with Sales and Marketing to develop compelling commercial proposals, including basket promotions, back‑to‑back opportunities, customer initiatives, distribution drives, and activation plans. You will build strong, influential relationships across the business, becoming the go‑to expert for this strategically important segment and helping to turn strategy into measurable results.

Key Accountabilities

Business Development & Growth

  • Proactively identify, target, and convert new business opportunities across relevant channels (Ethnic, Retail, Foodservice, Wholesale, B2B).
  • Act as a hunter—opening doors, building pipelines, and driving opportunities from prospect to contract.
  • Develop compelling commercial propositions that balance volume growth with margin protection.
  • Build long‑term strategic relationships with customers, distributors, and key external partners.
  • Support with shaping and delivering Condiments, Ingredients and Sundries strategy in-line with business growth objectives.

Pricing, Margin & Commercial Management

  • Own and manage pricing strategy for commodity finished goods, ensuring competitiveness while protecting contribution.
  • Lead pricing reviews, cost‑price negotiations, and margin recovery initiatives.
  • Build, maintain, and challenge robust P&Ls, ensuring full visibility of costs, rebates, logistics, and overheads.
  • Translate commodity movements, FX, and input cost volatility into clear commercial actions.
  • Work closely with Finance, Supply Chain, and Procurement to align pricing decisions with market realities.

Commercial & Commodity Insight

  • Maintain a strong understanding of commodity trading dynamics, market indices, and cost drivers.
  • Assess risk and opportunity linked to commodity exposure and customer pricing mechanisms.
  • Support the development of customer‑specific pricing models and index‑linked agreements where appropriate.

Project & Change Delivery

  • Lead and contribute to cross‑functional commercial projects (e.g. new channel entry, pricing framework redesign, contract standardisation).
  • Manage timelines, stakeholders, and outputs to ensure projects land effectively and deliver measurable value.
  • Act as a bridge between Commercial, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Build strong internal relationships across Sales, Finance, Planning, Procurement, and Operations.
  • Deliver high‑quality, data‑led presentations for senior stakeholders and customers.
  • Clearly articulate commercial risk, opportunity, and recommendations at all levels of the business.
