Overview of role
Westmill Foods is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to lead and enhance our HSE strategy across all sites and our Head Office. This pivotal role ensures legal compliance and provides business assurance through effective monitoring and robust assurance processes. You will be the go-to expert, offering advice, direction, and technical support to employees at every level.
Key Accountabilities
•Understand HSE legal compliance and provide business assurance through appropriate monitoring and assurance processes.
•Provide advice, assistance, direction, technical expertise and support to all employees.
•Develop robust H&S and environmental processes, systems and procedures across sites and Head Office that deliver compliance with the Westmill Foods HSE strategy.
•Ensure the management systems for health, safety and environment are fully maintained and improved to ensure ongoing compliance to internal and external audit standards.
•Champion and promote a pro-active approach to H&S and Environmental within the business, including sharing best practice, sharing key learnings and achieving continuous improvement
•Ensure H&S Committees and H&S Champions are properly trained and supported
•Prepare all H&S and environmental reporting and communication for Board and ABF
•Participate in site business continuity planning and crisis management as required
•Keep updated with legislation and good practice to ensure that Westmill is complying with its statutory responsibilities
•Support Westmill`s sustainability lead in specific actions to support and deliver the sustainability strategy
The Right Person
We’re seeking someone with demonstrable knowledge of continuous improvement and its practical application, alongside solid IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong written and verbal communication is essential, as is the ability to deliver effective training to others. You’ll hold a NEBOSH Diploma and ideally an IEMA Certification, bringing both technical expertise and a proactive, pragmatic approach to the role.
