Job Description: 

The Opportunity 

We are seeking a skilled Shift Leader to support day to day operations within our Enfield site. You will act as the first point of contact for operators and technicians, escalating issues when required and working closely with the warehouse team. You will support labour planning, contribute to continuous improvement activity and assist with staff training, SOP updates and performance reviews. You will complete work orders, input OEE data and provide clear shift handover reports. Maintaining GMP, supporting audit readiness and ensuring safe systems of work are essential parts of the role.

 

Key Responsibilities

Be the point of contact for Technicians/Operators for troubleshooting support and escalate issues according to escalation process.

Liaise with warehouse teams to ensure there is sufficient RM/PKG/Storage space to meet the demands of the production plan.

Support Production Manager to manage labour plan, holidays, sickness and agency requirements.

Ensure site readiness for internal and external audits.

Drive performance through short interval control and attend production reviews.

Be a key member of the continuous Improvement team.

Support staff development through SOP development, training, team briefs and feedback.

Run production lines as part of holiday/absence cover.

Take the lead in asset care and ensure maintenance plans are achieved.

Have a good control on yield and weights to reduce giveaway costs.

Drive material consumption and ensure regular stock counts is completed frequently.

Be proactive towards health and safety and ensure staff/yourself work within the safe systems of work.

Lead & ensure H&S compliance, delivering on all H&S KPI’s (Near miss reporting, SML & BRC audit scores etc.) 

Survey the floor and ensure all CCP, quality and prestart checks have been completed before production starts. Periodically survey the floor and verify stock being produced are to correct specification.

Complete work orders, input OEE data and develop shift report for the shift handover.

Regularly audit your teams on adherence to processes via PCA and GMP audits.

 

The Right Person

The ideal candidate will have experience in a food manufacturing environment, the ability to lead teams and good knowledge of manufacturing systems such as packing machinery, palletisers and ERP systems. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, organisation, problem solving ability and a focus on results, safety and quality are essential.
