Job Title: Compliance Technologist

Overview of role
There is now an exciting opportunity for a Compliance Technologist to join the Westmill Team. You will act as the technical liaison between business-to-business and retail customers, and Westmill’s manufacturing technical teams, fostering strong relationships, as well as supporting the Commercial Team to win new retail accounts and own cross functional internal audit programmes providing technical assurance.
Key Accountabilities
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with B2B and retailer technical teams, including but not limited to M&S and Tesco.
- Facilitate technical meetings between Westmill and key B2B and retail customers, ensuring effective communication and collaborative working.
- Coordinate B2B and retailer technical requests, ensuring timelines and customer expectations are met.
- Ensure supply chain processes and procedures comply with B2B, retail, and Westmill codes of practice, policies, and procedures, identifying any non-conformities.
- Develop audit templates to support manufacturing site compliance.
- Conduct critical technical compliance internal audits according to the agreed schedule across manufacturing sites (Manchester, Selby & Enfield), ensuring non- conformances are addressed and effective root cause analysis is completed.
- Perform gap analysis reviews on technical requirements for new retail accounts.
- Collaborate with site manufacturing teams to implement B2B & retailer quality plans and improvement programs.
- Engage with Westmill’s NPD and Procurement teams on innovation and technology initiatives that add value to the business.
- Attend conferences and webinars hosted by retailers, the Food & Drink Federation, and other relevant industry bodies.
- Communicate information effectively and engage relevant teams to ensure timely delivery of actions.
- Foster a culture of food safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Drive root cause analysis to reduce non-conformances.
- Monitor and analyse food safety and quality KPIs (e.g., complaints, quality analysis, due diligence testing), identifying areas for improvement.
- Promote Westmill’s behaviours and values.
- Support B2B and retailer food safety audits, ensuring comprehensive resolution of any non-conformities.
- Perform other duties as reasonably required by the Central Technical Assurance & Compliance Manager.
The Right Person
To be successful in your application, you must demonstrate that you can prioritise and create plans that drives continuous improvement and have a focused and pragmatic approach to problem solving, can use root cause analysis to identify, assess and select the most appropriate course of action to resolve issues and have experience of retailer codes of practice. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate technical experience within a food manufacturing environment with a proactive work ethic and excellent communication skills.
