Overview of role

As a key member of the European team, you will drive commercial opportunities with our existing customer portfolio in Germany. You will be responsible for achieving volume and financial targets and generating new business as part of our end-to-end sales strategy. Your role is to build influential relationships with customers to maximise range, visibility and promotional implementation for our existing products as well as driving listings of new products. Furthermore, as part of our strategy to grow the German business, you will also lead the identification and development of new business opportunities within the German Foodservice and Industrial markets.

Key Accountabilities

  • Deliver budgeted sales and gross margin target for designated group of customers in Germany, Austria, Swiss and Italy.
  • Business Development for Foodservice, Industrial customers and online distribution
  • Develop ‘bespoke’ annual country / customer plans to deliver Westmill strategy.
  • Achieve flawless implementation of the Westmill commercial calendar throughout given territory.
  • Develop customer performance by ensuring compliance to agreed ‘outlet standards’, focusing on ‘Pull’ versus ‘Push’ approach.
  • Achieve regular customer ‘trading’ contact, in line with Journey plan.
  • Negotiate and manage annual and on-going trading, pricing and discount agreements.
  • Champion customer understanding within the Westmill business.
  • Leverage the Westmill Sales Promise and ‘overrider’ scheme to further develop designated customer group
  • Deliver excellent customer administration
  • Contribute more broadly to the development and growth of Westmill’s European business

The Right Person

To succeed in this role, you will have a demonstrable track record of success and proven sales experience in Foodservice, FMCG or the Ethnic Trade, supplemented with a good knowledge of the German business culture. You will be a relationship-oriented individual with bundles of energy and ambition to build on the further development of our business partnerships. Developed negotiation skills and commercial acumen together with evidence of strong analytical and planning capabilities are also important pre-requisites. Alongside your ability to match your personal influence and ability to build winning relationships across your customer base, you will also have a track record of “making things happen” and delivering new business opportunities in your career to date.

You must be fluent in German and English and be flexible to travel on a regular basis across Germany.  An interest and understanding of Asian cultures would be advantageous.

A clean full driving license is a key requirement.
